The Making of a Christmas Photo

There are steps to the "perfect" Christmas photo, see below:

First, you need a tree. Decorated preferably.

Next, you need to line up the shot. Test shots are required at this stage to prevent anyone from losing their head.
Then, you begin the dress rehearsal. Coordinating outfits are needed and more test shots.

Lastly, a final check of facial cleanliness is crucial!

And, the end result may not be the perfect picture, but there are smiles and no one eyes are closed. That's a wrap!

Merry Christmas !!!!

Catching Up Part 2

Fire Dragon Ninja
Team Jacob Princess (Oh yeah, I totally dressed up my two year old to reflect my love for Twilight and specifically, Jacob)
Leo's How to Train Your Dragon cake

Catching up

We've been crazy busy the last few months to say the least. We've had weddings, showers, bachelor/bachelorette parties, babies born (Hi Delilah!), our annual trip to the Elgin Pumpkin Patch for great photos, Halloween, Leo's 7th birthday and our first trip away from the kids to Jamaica! It's been a whirlwind, but fun and exciting. So here is the first installment of pictures to catch up. Enjoy!

Busy As Bees

It's been quite some time since my last blog post. We've been busy. Not just we have plans on the weekend busy, but every day has a schedule that must be kept kind of busy. We are making it through on caffeine and time-outs....for all of us:) So, here's some pics of the kids. They are crazy, wonderful and always ready to pose.

Two!!

See that pout? That takes practice people!

"No, I will not smile for a cute birthday picture. I'm not in the mood."

Lindsay turned two on September 7th and we celebrated a few days earlier with a small family party. She had a great time and receive way too many gifts, she's definitely ready for Christmas. At her two year check up, she weighed 29 lbs 6 oz and measured 34 1/4 inches, both in the 85%percentile. Yep, she's a big girl!

Lindsay has not taken the responsibility of being two lightly. In addition to growing like crazy, for several months now she has been gathering knowledge and practicing. Her hard work has paid off, Lindsay was able to show the world a proper two year old weeks before her birthday. She has mastered the whine, the loud "NO!!", the quiet dramatic "No", the face turn to claim ignorance of a situation, and the all important scream-stomp-shake-turn red tantrum! She is truly a master of the two:)

In Motion

Leo is always moving. He has been that way for as long as he's been able to move on his own. It was so much that we took him to see one of the specialists who cared for him at birth. He confirmed what we suspected, Leo has ADHD. Who knows if this was caused by his prematurity, the liquid form of caffieine that he was on from birth until 4 mos old, or if he was just going to be that way no matter what. Either way, the day to day can be difficult and trying to say the least. He can't control his movements and impulses most of the time and I can't always control my annoyance with it. But, we try to give him outlets to expend energy and teach self control when he needs to be calm. I thought it would be nice to celebrate the positive side to this constant battle, Leo's unbelievable energy and enjoyment of motion!

Tooth Fairy's First Visit

Last weekend, we took the kids to Galveston for some beach time. Leo had a few loose teeth and lost his first one on our trip. He was brave and the tooth fairy left him $5 for his first tooth. (I think that may be way more than I got.) His big boy tooth was already visible, so you can see it too, filling in the gap. Our boy is growing too fast!

A Painful Week

So, a week ago today, Leo had yet to get up at 9:30 am. This is VERY unusual, so I went to check on him and found he had a temp of 103.7. We gave him a bath, some motrin and kept offering fluids. Several hours later, he began vomiting and continued, and continued. He was so weak, he could barely hold his head above the toilet and around 5 am on Monday morning, Leo took him to the emergency room. They started an iv and gave him fluids and no more vomit medicine.

He was home after 5 hours or so and make a super quick recovery. By Tuesday, he was completely back to making me crazy :) Here is his i.v. bruise almost a week later. Ouch!

Not to be completely left out, Lindsay found some ants on the patio that were between homes I guess. They literally attacked one foot and leg, leaving her with about 12 bites. Ouch! Her little foot became swollen and she ran a fever of 101.7. After some benadryl, cortisone cream, motrin and a good night's sleep, she was back to normal as well.

And, I do write this blog, so here's a picture of my knee. We have to put the trash can on top of the island in the kitchen to keep the dogs out of the trash and I was putting it back on the floor when I hit my knee with it. It hurt, lots, picture doesn't do it justice, I assure you. Ouch.

Father's Day

It was kid's night and Leo got a glove for free!

Our little man caught a ball from one of the players warming up!

My two Leo's

I know.....its been a month since Father's Day. Gimme a break, I've been really busy! So, for Father's Day, the little man and I took Leo to a baseball game for our local team. No, Lindsay wasn't part of it, it was past her bedtime and it would've been a bit less enjoyable with the crying and screaming. We sat on the grass behind the warm up area and the little man caught a ball thrown by one of the players!! (Dad helped a little.) We had a great time complete with popcorn and $3 candy!
